Best over the counter treatment for acne?

I%26#039;ve been having lots of acne lately, mostly on my forehead and nose.

I%26#039;ve tried Neutrogena and Clearasil, neither seem to work well.

Can anyone recommend me a good overthecounter product (not proactiv) that is good? And is safe for your skin/doesn%26#039;t overly dry it/smells good? :D

I%26#039;m 16 and boy btw

thanks very much! :)|||First, I understand where you%26#039;re coming from. I grew up with really bad acne, not only on my face but on my body as well. It was embarrassing and I tried everything including cleansers, creams, prescription medications, antibiotics, over the counter medications, and even shots from the dermatologist (ouch!) to get rid of it. I never did until many years later when it didn%26#039;t matter as much.

Here%26#039;s what I found out after lots of research and trial and error, the hard way.

It%26#039;s not a topical issue, it doesn%26#039;t help much to treat it from the outside, it%26#039;s an inside job. When you treat it from the outside it%26#039;s like treating the symptoms, not the cause. You%26#039;ll hear from many people that%26#039;s not the case, and it%26#039;s usually because they want you to buy their creams or lotions, and keep buying them month after month after month (or they haven%26#039;t experienced the truth). Of course, when you stop using it (as you%26#039;ve experienced) your blemishes come back... because you%26#039;re not treating the cause. And the costs for all of these routines/drugs add up month after month.

If you think about it logically, it makes sense. Why do we get rashes, breakouts, or other skin irritations? It%26#039;s usually because of something we ate, something that wasn%26#039;t meant to be put on our skin, something that caused us stress and our body reacts to all those things.

Bottom line is that most every cause of acne is related to what you eat, how you feel and how you take care of yourself. Your skin is a reflection of what%26#039;s on the inside. We have lots of toxins building up in our systems and they have to be cleaned out on the inside and that will reflect on the outside. The blemishes, rashes, acne, etc are indications that your body is reacting to what you%26#039;re eating, to stress, toxins, chemicals, hormones... literally a great number of things.

Basically what I did in a nutshell was clean out my system by taking out the processed and junk foods, and added as much fresh fruits and vegetables to my diet as possible. This part is key. I also started drinking a lot of water daily, starting with 3 or 4 glasses when I wake up (adding a squeeze of fresh lemon at times). I also got more active every day, walking, running, sports, jumping, whatever, just getting active. It not only gave me more energy, it help flush out the toxins that were clogging up my system.

Did you know 90% of acne is caused by 3 major factors? Find out exactly what

they are and how easily it is to solve them here http://topsecretacnevolution.blogspot.co鈥?/a>|||I really like the regimen from acne.org. You can buy the parts of the regimen from the drugstore. I use Purpose gentle cleansing wash, then the benzoyl peroxide treatment gel from acne.org, and then Cetaphil moisturizing lotion. Those all smell like nothing. When you first start doing the regimen, your skin might be a little flaky, but you can get some jojoba oil from a health food/vitamin store, and put that in your moisturizer at night. It works really well. I%26#039;ve been doing this for a few months and my skin is great. It was flaky for the first week, but after that, it was fine and I didn%26#039;t even need the jojoba oil. Good luck.|||okay ive used like every over the counter treatment like proactiv, neutrogena, clearasil, cetaphil, burts bees...ive tried them all. proactiv dried out my skin and didnt treat my acne. neutrogena gave me a rash clearasil did nothing. i went to the dermatoligist like 2 weeks ago and he put me on antibiotics, told me to was daily and moisterize with cetaphil and use a cream called differn and it really working great, the antibiotics clear up everything even on my shoulders. i reccomend you go to a dermatoligist its not too expensive and its worth it...permanent scarring could be a problem in the future thats what i was scared of. the dermatoligist said that legally over-the-counter treatments arent made strong enough to treat acne because of medical reasons.|||I had the same problem. Depending what kind of acne you have, those products can make it worse. There is a tried and true product from your Grandma%26#039;s day, but you have to look for it at your local CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid... whatever. It is called %26quot;Acnomel%26quot;, it doesn%26#039;t have all the flashy packaging, but it%26#039;s a damn good product. Stay away from soda pop, use a light moisturizer, once a week take a little bit of the moisturizer and mix it with %26quot;baking soda%26quot; to use as a GENTLE scrub and rinse with warm water.

Wash your face in the morning and the evening with the Neutrogena liquid glycerin soap, (but don%26#039;t use the acne products). You should be good to go.|||Water.

Wash the oil from your face several times a day. Every 2 hours or each time you can make it into the bathroom, splash some clean water onto your face, and then wet a paper towle, and dry your face, then use a damp towle to finish drying your face.

Also rub some water into the oily surface next to your nose. This is a especially oily area.

We all went through it - I am 43 now, and survived my teenage years.|||Make a paste of roasted %26amp; powdered pomegranate skin with fresh lime juice and apply over the affected parts.
