Is Cetaphil and Differin the best treatment for dry skin and moderate acne?

My dry skin is flaking off my face and I have huge red pimples on the sides of my face|||Chances are that your acne is created by your dry skin! Simply put, when you do something bad to your skin, it does something bad to you! Before you start treating your acne, you should treat your dry skin (chances are, much of your acne will disappear when your skins%26#039; moisture level is more balanced). Washing with Cetaphil is a good idea because it is extra gentle and doesn%26#039;t dry out your face. You could also try Aveeno products because they are also gentle and help keep you moisture levels balanced. The tricky part comes to lotion! Undoubtedly you should use a lotion with an SPF to protect from the sun (no matter what your skin color is or whether or not you burn). Also look for ones that are noncomedogenic (won%26#039;t clog your pores). Aveeno has some good ones as does Oil of Olay (you could use generic/store brands so long as the formulation is the same and works for you). As for the acne, treat your face for the dry skin only for about 1 month to see if there is an improvement in the acne. If you are still uncomfortable with your acne, use products with benzoyl peroxide (not salicylic acid) as it is much more gentle than alternatives. Try using a face wash containing benzoyl peroxide first and if that doesn%26#039;t work after a few weeks, try an on the spot treatment. Neutrogena makes a wash and a treatment worth trying. Keep in mind that your skin is not the enemy! So, be gentle with it! Allow the products you try some time to work (3 weeks or better). If this doesn%26#039;t improve the condition of your skin, see a dermatologist. Good luck!|||Ok first off you have two different problems:

1- dry skin

2- acne

cetaphil is a lotion. it is good for dry skin

Differin is a prescription medication for the treatment of acne. Usually the way these medications work is that you get worse BEFORE you get better. By worse i mean you might see more acne, redness and peeling. Usually you see results within 6 to 8 weeks.

I used to use cetaphil regularly, except it kinda made my completion dull and non-glowing. I switched to Aveeno Clear Complexion Foaming Cleanser and Aveeno Clear Complexion Daily Moisturizer. I like the results. If you have Acne Scars try a peel or something that contains Glycolic Acid.|||I don%26#039;t have acne but i have dry skin and cetaphil is great, but if it%26#039;s flaking off, try something a little thicker like eucerin.
